Das Einsiedler Welttheater −

Open air theater

Our technical systems will be exposed to the elements for three full months, operating continuously in harsh conditions. It is only possible thanks to weatherproof planning and implementation.

Theatre productions have been staged regularly at Einsiedeln Abbey since 1924. The abbey forecourt is transformed into a unique temporary amphitheatre in the damp early summer months – regardless of the rain, hale and snow. The night sky, abbey forecourt and Baroque facade of the abbey alone create an impressive backdrop. Plus 32 concrete mixers, 12 of which with lighting, and two construction cranes – both as high as bell towers with their own foundations – in addition to the latest lighting technology from the Winkler company. Our technical systems will be exposed to the elements for three full months, operating continuously in harsh conditions. It is only possible thanks to weatherproof planning and implementation.
