Winkler implements the technology behind the Shell Pavilion at EXPO 2017 in Astana.

13.6.2017
The International EXPO focusing on Future Energy takes place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, from 10 June to 10 September 2017. Winkler was commissioned by leading London-based Design and Events agency Imagination to deliver the technology requirements for the Shell Pavilion.

Winkler is responsible for the technical implementation of lighting, audio and video within the Pavilion, encompassing LEDs, various moving lights, a 30K Barco projector, a 6m2 LED wall with 3.5 mm pixel pitch and additional technical components. «With the help of local partners, we were able to create the stand without any hitches, despite the challenging conditions on site» says Alexander Bitter, Senior International Project Lead.

Shell is presenting its «Shell Energy Lab» at EXPO 2017 as part of the Make the Future programme of events. Various interactives, films and demonstrations are used to highlight the opportunities created by renewable energy and power generation, with interactive exhibits for visitors. Three moving Zorbs generate energy by moving on their own axis with people running inside them. The moving lights are programmed to react at the same time, using a MIDI controller to reflect the specific intensity of movement. EXPO 2017 runs until 10 September 2017. Winkler will manage the technological scope within Shell Pavilion throughout this period, ensuring the event runs smoothly operationally.
