Winkler, Expomobilia and Bluescope win a silver award together in the first edition of the BrandEx Award for their “Grand Basel - Exceptional Show Architecture for Automobiles” project.

As successor to the FAMAB Award, the International Festival of Brand Experience – BrandEx – took place on 15 January, 2019. During the day, participants attended a wide range of specialist presentations. The award ceremony was held in the evening. Together with Expomobilia and Bluescope, Winkler submitted the “Grand Basel - Exceptional Show Architecture for Automobiles” project in the “Best Thematic Exhibition” category and won a silver award. The BrandEx Award is a creative accolade for successful live communication. It pays tribute to outstanding brand experiences and thus to international benchmarks in interpersonal communication, temporary and permanent architecture. Key assessment criteria include creativity and successful execution.

As Stefan Mathys, Head of Sales & Marketing, remarks: “The BrandEx award shows that the high regard for our projects is not confined to Switzerland, but extends beyond its borders.”

Horsepower and art combined in a modular staged concept.

In September 2018, the ultimate show for automotive masterpieces celebrated its international première in Basel. Grand Basel commissioned Winkler and Expomobilia to design the unique show architecture.

Grand Basel is distinguished by its meticulous selection of automotive masterpieces, whose cultural significance, conceptual innovation, condition, origins, limited availability and market value make them special highlights.

Inspired by the world of art galleries, the Grand Basel project team, Winkler, Expomobilia and Bluescope, designed a modular, minimalist show architecture for Grand Basel. Attention focuses on the exhibits: cars are the stars of the show. So we created a set that draws the eye to the exhibit and is uncluttered by distracting elements. The observer enjoys the unadulterated magic of each vehicle and its many details. A discreet modern contrast to the traditional motor show style.
